Are you looking for adventure? You are in the right place.
Venturing is a youth development program of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women who are 14 years of age (OR 13 years of age and have completed the eighth grade) and are under 21 years of age. Venturing's purpose is to provide positive experiences to help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults.
Crew 7 is brand new, started in 2013. St. Francis of Assisi Church is our Chartered Organization. Boy Scouts of America Troop 7 and Cub Scout Pack 777 are also Chartered at St. Francis of Assisi. We are seeking active youth and caring, guiding adult advisers. Our Crew members are from diverse religious backgrounds; young women and men holding a belief in God are invited.
Venturing is a new "old" program of the Boy Scouts of America for young adults. Originally part of the Exploring Division, it finally came into its own in 1998. Venturing is the fastest growing program in Boy Scouting. Through the Venturing program, young adults have found the outlet they have been looking for in their age group.
The program provides positive experiences to help young people to mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults. Venturing provides the skills needed for young adults to make ethical choices, experience a fun program full of adventure and challenges, acquire and hone leadership skills, and to take advantage of opportunities to advance their skills and knowledge in the areas of high adventure, sports, arts, hobbies and religious life.
The Venturing Crew is run by the youth. The Crew elects a President, Vice Presidents, Treasurer and a Secretary. Activity chairs are then appointed by the elected leaders. Each youth leader has a corresponding adult leader who provides resources, guidance and support. There is also a Crew Committee comprised of adults who handle much of the behind the scenes work required for successful Crew operation. adapted from scouting.org
